Update from Yellow Creek Baptist Church
Praise the Lord we just finished up our church year on August 31st and we baptized 135 people for the year. God is so good. We have already baptized 11 during the first two Sunday’s in September and we have that many and more to schedule for baptism.
Our Car Show and Back To School Bash were tremendous successes. There were 36 people saved at the Car Show and 16 at the Back to School Bash. 327 entries in the Car Show and we raised over $16,000 for the Building Fund. 152 Attendants to the Back to School Bash, 72 of which were unchurched.
Our youth lock in was also a fantastic success. 62 youth stayed the night and not only did they play games and have fun, but they also broke up into small groups and heard messages on modesty, dealing with social media, how to witness, and more. Our youth group is growing by leaps and bounds!!! The Harvest truly is plenteous. Pray for us as we continue to glorify God by reaching the lost for Christ, connecting the unchurched to church, and help the churched mature in their faith.
We need volunteers to help us with our Children’s Ministry. Specifically on Wednesday nights. This is all we are asking you to do: Commit to teach class for one quarter(13 weeks). Class lasts for 1 hour. It begins after Worship. We have the material for you to teach and we will help you the first 1-2 weeks to show you how we’ve done things in the past. Please prayerfully consider helping and let me know if you would be willing to volunteer. Special thanks to Ida Odom and Laurie Redman who have already signed up and to Marcus & Leslie Reese, Kyle & Casey Murphy, Harold & Tommye Ricks, and Erin Chambers that have been teaching for the last year and a half. Please prayerfully consider it and contact Erin Chambers if you would be willing to help.
In addition, we are also needing some more help in the nursery. Again, we are just asking you to volunteer for one service a month. Maybe even less frequent if more people volunteer. You will not be by yourself and children will be signed in and signed out. Special thanks to Stacy Bowling for recently signing up. Please contact Holly Brown if you would be willing to help.
Our food pantry continues to help needy families in our area & at Austin Peay State University. PRAISE GOD!! Its running low on food, so please bring non-perishable food items in. Everything except for Corn and Green Beans are needed. If you are not on our “all-call” phone & text system, please sign up. Its free, and this is the best way to keep everybody informed of late breaking information. Please give me or Leslie Reese your name and phone number.
May God Bless,
Phillip Chambers, Pastor
