Save Me, O God
Psa 69:1-36  For the choir director; according to Shoshannim. A Psalm of David. Save me, O God, For the waters have threatened my life.  (2)  I have sunk in deep mire, and there is no foothold; I have come into deep waters, and a flood overflows me.  (3)  I am weary with my crying; my throat is parched; My eyes fail while I wait for my God.  (4)  Those who hate me without a cause are more than the hairs of my head; Those who would destroy me are powerful, being wrongfully my enemies; What I did not steal, I then have to restore.  (5)  O God, it is You who knows my folly, And my wrongs are not hidden from You.  (6)  May those who wait for You not be ashamed through me, O Lord GOD of hosts; May those who seek You not be dishonored through me, O God of Israel,  (7)  Because for Your sake I have borne reproach; Dishonor has covered my face.  (8)  I have become estranged from my brothers And an alien to my mother’s sons.  (9)  For zeal for Your house has consumed me, And the reproaches of those who reproach You have fallen on me.  (10)  When I wept in my soul with fasting, It became my reproach.  (11)  When I made sackcloth my clothing, I became a byword to them.  (12)  Those who sit in the gate talk about me, And I am the song of the drunkards.  (13)  But as for me, my prayer is to You, O LORD, at an acceptable time; O God, in the greatness of Your lovingkindness, Answer me with Your saving truth.  (14)  Deliver me from the mire and do not let me sink; May I be delivered from my foes and from the deep waters.  (15)  May the flood of water not overflow me Nor the deep swallow me up, Nor the pit shut its mouth on me.  (16)  Answer me, O LORD, for Your lovingkindness is good; According to the greatness of Your compassion, turn to me,  (17)  And do not hide Your face from Your servant, For I am in distress; answer me quickly.  (18)  Oh draw near to my soul and redeem it; Ransom me because of my enemies!  (19)  You know my reproach and my shame and my dishonor; All my adversaries are before You.  (20)  Reproach has broken my heart and I am so sick. And I looked for sympathy, but there was none, And for comforters, but I found none.  (21)  They also gave me gall for my food And for my thirst they gave me vinegar to drink.  (22)  May their table before them become a snare; And when they are in peace, may it become a trap.  (23)  May their eyes grow dim so that they cannot see, And make their loins shake continually.  (24)  Pour out Your indignation on them, And may Your burning anger overtake them.  (25)  May their camp be desolate; May none dwell in their tents.  (26)  For they have persecuted him whom You Yourself have smitten, And they tell of the pain of those whom You have wounded.  (27)  Add iniquity to their iniquity, And may they not come into Your righteousness.  (28)  May they be blotted out of the book of life And may they not be recorded with the righteous.  (29)  But I am afflicted and in pain; May Your salvation, O God, set me securely on high.  (30)  I will praise the name of God with song And magnify Him with thanksgiving.  (31)  And it will please the LORD better than an ox Or a young bull with horns and hoofs.  (32)  The humble have seen it and are glad; You who seek God, let your heart revive.  (33)  For the LORD hears the needy And does not despise His who are prisoners.  (34)  Let heaven and earth praise Him, The seas and everything that moves in them.  (35)  For God will save Zion and build the cities of Judah, That they may dwell there and possess it.  (36)  The descendants of His servants will inherit it, And those who love His name will dwell in it.

O Lord, Do Not Delay
Psa 70:1-5  For the choir director. A Psalm of David; for a memorial. O God, hasten to deliver me; O LORD, hasten to my help!  (2)  Let those be ashamed and humiliated Who seek my life; Let those be turned back and dishonored Who delight in my hurt.  (3)  Let those be turned back because of their shame Who say, “Aha, aha!”  (4)  Let all who seek You rejoice and be glad in You; And let those who love Your salvation say continually, “Let God be magnified.”  (5)  But I am afflicted and needy; Hasten to me, O God! You are my help and my deliverer; O LORD, do not delay.

28 November 2017 Verse of the Day

Though the fig tree should not blossom And there be no fruit on the vines, Though the yield of the olive should fail And the fields produce no food, Though the flock should be cut off from the fold And there be no cattle in the stalls, Yet I will exult in the LORD, I will rejoice in the God of my salvation. Make Your Face Shine upon Us
Psa 67:1-7  For the choir director; with stringed instruments. A Psalm. A Song. God be gracious to us and bless us, And cause His face to shine upon us—Selah.  (2)  That Your way may be known on the earth, Your salvation among all nations.  (3)  Let the peoples praise You, O God; Let all the peoples praise You.  (4)  Let the nations be glad and sing for joy; For You will judge the peoples with uprightness And guide the nations on the earth. Selah.  (5)  Let the peoples praise You, O God; Let all the peoples praise You.  (6)  The earth has yielded its produce; God, our God, blesses us.  (7)  God blesses us, That all the ends of the earth may fear Him.

God Shall Scatter His Enemies
Psa 68:1-35  For the choir director. A Psalm of David. A Song. Let God arise, let His enemies be scattered, And let those who hate Him flee before Him.  (2)  As smoke is driven away, so drive them away; As wax melts before the fire, So let the wicked perish before God.  (3)  But let the righteous be glad; let them exult before God; Yes, let them rejoice with gladness.  (4)  Sing to God, sing praises to His name; Lift up a song for Him who rides through the deserts, Whose name is the LORD, and exult before Him.  (5)  A father of the fatherless and a judge for the widows, Is God in His holy habitation.  (6)  God makes a home for the lonely; He leads out the prisoners into prosperity, Only the rebellious dwell in a parched land.  (7)  O God, when You went forth before Your people, When You marched through the wilderness, Selah.  (8)  The earth quaked; The heavens also dropped rain at the presence of God; Sinai itself quaked at the presence of God, the God of Israel.  (9)  You shed abroad a plentiful rain, O God; You confirmed Your inheritance when it was parched.  (10)  Your creatures settled in it; You provided in Your goodness for the poor, O God.  (11)  The Lord gives the command; The women who proclaim the good tidings are a great host:  (12)  “Kings of armies flee, they flee, And she who remains at home will divide the spoil!”  (13)  When you lie down among the sheepfolds, You are like the wings of a dove covered with silver, And its pinions with glistening gold.  (14)  When the Almighty scattered the kings there, It was snowing in Zalmon.  (15)  A mountain of God is the mountain of Bashan; A mountain of many peaks is the mountain of Bashan.  (16)  Why do you look with envy, O mountains with many peaks, At the mountain which God has desired for His abode? Surely the LORD will dwell there forever.  (17)  The chariots of God are myriads, thousands upon thousands; The Lord is among them as at Sinai, in holiness.  (18)  You have ascended on high, You have led captive Your captives; You have received gifts among men, Even among the rebellious also, that the LORD God may dwell there.  (19)  Blessed be the Lord, who daily bears our burden, The God who is our salvation. Selah.  (20)  God is to us a God of deliverances; And to GOD the Lord belong escapes from death.  (21)  Surely God will shatter the head of His enemies, The hairy crown of him who goes on in his guilty deeds.  (22)  The Lord said, “I will bring them back from Bashan. I will bring them back from the depths of the sea;  (23)  That your foot may shatter them in blood, The tongue of your dogs may have its portion from your enemies.”  (24)  They have seen Your procession, O God, The procession of my God, my King, into the sanctuary.  (25)  The singers went on, the musicians after them, In the midst of the maidens beating tambourines.  (26)  Bless God in the congregations, Even the LORD, you who are of the fountain of Israel.  (27)  There is Benjamin, the youngest, ruling them, The princes of Judah in their throng, The princes of Zebulun, the princes of Naphtali.  (28)  Your God has commanded your strength; Show Yourself strong, O God, who have acted on our behalf.  (29)  Because of Your temple at Jerusalem Kings will bring gifts to You.  (30)  Rebuke the beasts in the reeds, The herd of bulls with the calves of the peoples, Trampling under foot the pieces of silver; He has scattered the peoples who delight in war.  (31)  Envoys will come out of Egypt; Ethiopia will quickly stretch out her hands to God.  (32)  Sing to God, O kingdoms of the earth, Sing praises to the Lord, Selah.  (33)  To Him who rides upon the highest heavens, which are from ancient times; Behold, He speaks forth with His voice, a mighty voice.  (34)  Ascribe strength to God; His majesty is over Israel And His strength is in the skies.  (35)  O God, You are awesome from Your sanctuary. The God of Israel Himself gives strength and power to the people. Blessed be God!

O God of Our Salvation
Psa 65:1-13  For the choir director. A Psalm of David. A Song. There will be silence before You, and praise in Zion, O God, And to You the vow will be performed.  (2)  O You who hear prayer, To You all men come.  (3)  Iniquities prevail against me; As for our transgressions, You forgive them.  (4)  How blessed is the one whom You choose and bring near to You To dwell in Your courts. We will be satisfied with the goodness of Your house, Your holy temple.  (5)  By awesome deeds You answer us in righteousness, O God of our salvation, You who are the trust of all the ends of the earth and of the farthest sea;  (6)  Who establishes the mountains by His strength, Being girded with might;  (7)  Who stills the roaring of the seas, The roaring of their waves, And the tumult of the peoples.  (8)  They who dwell in the ends of the earth stand in awe of Your signs; You make the dawn and the sunset shout for joy.  (9)  You visit the earth and cause it to overflow; You greatly enrich it; The stream of God is full of water; You prepare their grain, for thus You prepare the earth.  (10)  You water its furrows abundantly, You settle its ridges, You soften it with showers, You bless its growth.  (11)  You have crowned the year with Your bounty, And Your paths drip with fatness.  (12)  The pastures of the wilderness drip, And the hills gird themselves with rejoicing.  (13)  The meadows are clothed with flocks And the valleys are covered with grain; They shout for joy, yes, they sing.

How Awesome Are Your Deeds
Psa 66:1-20  For the choir director. A Song. A Psalm. Shout joyfully to God, all the earth;  (2)  Sing the glory of His name; Make His praise glorious.  (3)  Say to God, “How awesome are Your works! Because of the greatness of Your power Your enemies will give feigned obedience to You.  (4)  “All the earth will worship You, And will sing praises to You; They will sing praises to Your name.” Selah.  (5)  Come and see the works of God, Who is awesome in His deeds toward the sons of men.  (6)  He turned the sea into dry land; They passed through the river on foot; There let us rejoice in Him!  (7)  He rules by His might forever; His eyes keep watch on the nations; Let not the rebellious exalt themselves. Selah.  (8)  Bless our God, O peoples, And sound His praise abroad,  (9)  Who keeps us in life And does not allow our feet to slip.  (10)  For You have tried us, O God; You have refined us as silver is refined.  (11)  You brought us into the net; You laid an oppressive burden upon our loins.  (12)  You made men ride over our heads; We went through fire and through water, Yet You brought us out into a place of abundance.  (13)  I shall come into Your house with burnt offerings; I shall pay You my vows,  (14)  Which my lips uttered And my mouth spoke when I was in distress.  (15)  I shall offer to You burnt offerings of fat beasts, With the smoke of rams; I shall make an offering of bulls with male goats. Selah.  (16)  Come and hear, all who fear God, And I will tell of what He has done for my soul.  (17)  I cried to Him with my mouth, And He was extolled with my tongue.  (18)  If I regard wickedness in my heart, The Lord will not hear;  (19)  But certainly God has heard; He has given heed to the voice of my prayer.  (20)  Blessed be God, Who has not turned away my prayer Nor His lovingkindness from me.

26 November 2017 Verse of the Day

Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, and to make you stand in the presence of His glory blameless with great joy, to the only God our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion and authority, before all time and now and forever. Amen. (Jude 1:24-25 NASB)

My Soul Thirsts for You
Psa 63:1-11  A Psalm of David, when he was in the wilderness of Judah. O God, You are my God; I shall seek You earnestly; My soul thirsts for You, my flesh yearns for You, In a dry and weary land where there is no water.  (2)  Thus I have seen You in the sanctuary, To see Your power and Your glory.  (3)  Because Your lovingkindness is better than life, My lips will praise You.  (4)  So I will bless You as long as I live; I will lift up my hands in Your name.  (5)  My soul is satisfied as with marrow and fatness, And my mouth offers praises with joyful lips.  (6)  When I remember You on my bed, I meditate on You in the night watches,  (7)  For You have been my help, And in the shadow of Your wings I sing for joy.  (8)  My soul clings to You; Your right hand upholds me.  (9)  But those who seek my life to destroy it, Will go into the depths of the earth.  (10)  They will be delivered over to the power of the sword; They will be a prey for foxes.  (11)  But the king will rejoice in God; Everyone who swears by Him will glory, For the mouths of those who speak lies will be stopped.

Hide Me from the Wicked
Psa 64:1-10  For the choir director. A Psalm of David. Hear my voice, O God, in my complaint; Preserve my life from dread of the enemy.  (2)  Hide me from the secret counsel of evildoers, From the tumult of those who do iniquity,  (3)  Who have sharpened their tongue like a sword. They aimed bitter speech as their arrow,  (4)  To shoot from concealment at the blameless; Suddenly they shoot at him, and do not fear.  (5)  They hold fast to themselves an evil purpose; They talk of laying snares secretly; They say, “Who can see them?”  (6)  They devise injustices, saying, “We are ready with a well-conceived plot”; For the inward thought and the heart of a man are deep.  (7)  But God will shoot at them with an arrow; Suddenly they will be wounded.  (8)  So they will make him stumble; Their own tongue is against them; All who see them will shake the head.  (9)  Then all men will fear, And they will declare the work of God, And will consider what He has done.  (10)  The righteous man will be glad in the LORD and will take refuge in Him; And all the upright in heart will glory.

25 November 2017 Verse of the Day

Lead Me to the Rock
Psa 61:1-8  For the choir director; on a stringed instrument. A Psalm of David. Hear my cry, O God; Give heed to my prayer.  (2)  From the end of the earth I call to You when my heart is faint; Lead me to the rock that is higher than I.  (3)  For You have been a refuge for me, A tower of strength against the enemy.  (4)  Let me dwell in Your tent forever; Let me take refuge in the shelter of Your wings. Selah.  (5)  For You have heard my vows, O God; You have given me the inheritance of those who fear Your name.  (6)  You will prolong the king’s life; His years will be as many generations.  (7)  He will abide before God forever; Appoint lovingkindness and truth that they may preserve him.  (8)  So I will sing praise to Your name forever, That I may pay my vows day by day.

My Soul Waits for God Alone
Psa 62:1-12  For the choir director; according to Jeduthun. A Psalm of David. My soul waits in silence for God only; From Him is my salvation.  (2)  He only is my rock and my salvation, My stronghold; I shall not be greatly shaken.  (3)  How long will you assail a man, That you may murder him, all of you, Like a leaning wall, like a tottering fence?  (4)  They have counseled only to thrust him down from his high position; They delight in falsehood; They bless with their mouth, But inwardly they curse. Selah.  (5)  My soul, wait in silence for God only, For my hope is from Him.  (6)  He only is my rock and my salvation, My stronghold; I shall not be shaken.  (7)  On God my salvation and my glory rest; The rock of my strength, my refuge is in God.  (8)  Trust in Him at all times, O people; Pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us. Selah.  (9)  Men of low degree are only vanity and men of rank are a lie; In the balances they go up; They are together lighter than breath.  (10)  Do not trust in oppression And do not vainly hope in robbery; If riches increase, do not set your heart upon them.  (11)  Once God has spoken; Twice I have heard this: That power belongs to God;  (12)  And lovingkindness is Yours, O Lord, For You recompense a man according to his work.

Deliver Me from My Enemies
Psa 59:1-17  For the choir director; set to Al-tashheth. A Mikhtam of David, when Saul sent men and they watched the house in order to kill him. Deliver me from my enemies, O my God; Set me securely on high away from those who rise up against me.  (2)  Deliver me from those who do iniquity And save me from men of bloodshed.  (3)  For behold, they have set an ambush for my life; Fierce men launch an attack against me, Not for my transgression nor for my sin, O LORD,  (4)  For no guilt of mine, they run and set themselves against me. Arouse Yourself to help me, and see!  (5)  You, O LORD God of hosts, the God of Israel, Awake to punish all the nations; Do not be gracious to any who are treacherous in iniquity. Selah.  (6)  They return at evening, they howl like a dog, And go around the city.  (7)  Behold, they belch forth with their mouth; Swords are in their lips, For, they say, “Who hears?”  (8)  But You, O LORD, laugh at them; You scoff at all the nations.  (9)  Because of his strength I will watch for You, For God is my stronghold.  (10)  My God in His lovingkindness will meet me; God will let me look triumphantly upon my foes.  (11)  Do not slay them, or my people will forget; Scatter them by Your power, and bring them down, O Lord, our shield.  (12)  On account of the sin of their mouth and the words of their lips, Let them even be caught in their pride, And on account of curses and lies which they utter.  (13)  Destroy them in wrath, destroy them that they may be no more; That men may know that God rules in Jacob To the ends of the earth. Selah.  (14)  They return at evening, they howl like a dog, And go around the city.  (15)  They wander about for food And growl if they are not satisfied.  (16)  But as for me, I shall sing of Your strength; Yes, I shall joyfully sing of Your lovingkindness in the morning, For You have been my stronghold And a refuge in the day of my distress.  (17)  O my strength, I will sing praises to You; For God is my stronghold, the God who shows me lovingkindness.

He Will Tread Down Our Foes
Psa 60:1-12  For the choir director; according to Shushan Eduth. A Mikhtam of David, to teach; when he struggled with Aram-naharaim and with Aram-zobah, and Joab returned, and smote twelve thousand of Edom in the Valley of Salt. O God, You have rejected us. You have broken us; You have been angry; O, restore us.  (2)  You have made the land quake, You have split it open; Heal its breaches, for it totters.  (3)  You have made Your people experience hardship; You have given us wine to drink that makes us stagger.  (4)  You have given a banner to those who fear You, That it may be displayed because of the truth. Selah.  (5)  That Your beloved may be delivered, Save with Your right hand, and answer us!  (6)  God has spoken in His holiness: “I will exult, I will portion out Shechem and measure out the valley of Succoth.  (7)  “Gilead is Mine, and Manasseh is Mine; Ephraim also is the helmet of My head; Judah is My scepter.  (8)  “Moab is My washbowl; Over Edom I shall throw My shoe; Shout loud, O Philistia, because of Me!”  (9)  Who will bring me into the besieged city? Who will lead me to Edom?  (10)  Have not You Yourself, O God, rejected us? And will You not go forth with our armies, O God?  (11)  O give us help against the adversary, For deliverance by man is in vain.  (12)  Through God we shall do valiantly, And it is He who will tread down our adversaries.

Let Your Glory Be over All the Earth
Psa 57:1-11  For the choir director; set to Al-tashheth. A Mikhtam of David, when he fled from Saul in the cave. Be gracious to me, O God, be gracious to me, For my soul takes refuge in You; And in the shadow of Your wings I will take refuge Until destruction passes by.  (2)  I will cry to God Most High, To God who accomplishes all things for me.  (3)  He will send from heaven and save me; He reproaches him who tramples upon me. Selah. God will send forth His lovingkindness and His truth.  (4)  My soul is among lions; I must lie among those who breathe forth fire, Even the sons of men, whose teeth are spears and arrows And their tongue a sharp sword.  (5)  Be exalted above the heavens, O God; Let Your glory be above all the earth.  (6)  They have prepared a net for my steps; My soul is bowed down; They dug a pit before me; They themselves have fallen into the midst of it. Selah.  (7)  My heart is steadfast, O God, my heart is steadfast; I will sing, yes, I will sing praises!  (8)  Awake, my glory! Awake, harp and lyre! I will awaken the dawn.  (9)  I will give thanks to You, O Lord, among the peoples; I will sing praises to You among the nations.  (10)  For Your lovingkindness is great to the heavens And Your truth to the clouds.  (11)  Be exalted above the heavens, O God; Let Your glory be above all the earth.

God Who Judges the Earth
Psa 58:1-11  For the choir director; set to Al-tashheth. A Mikhtam of David. Do you indeed speak righteousness, O gods? Do you judge uprightly, O sons of men?  (2)  No, in heart you work unrighteousness; On earth you weigh out the violence of your hands.  (3)  The wicked are estranged from the womb; These who speak lies go astray from birth.  (4)  They have venom like the venom of a serpent; Like a deaf cobra that stops up its ear,  (5)  So that it does not hear the voice of charmers, Or a skillful caster of spells.  (6)  O God, shatter their teeth in their mouth; Break out the fangs of the young lions, O LORD.  (7)  Let them flow away like water that runs off; When he aims his arrows, let them be as headless shafts.  (8)  Let them be as a snail which melts away as it goes along, Like the miscarriages of a woman which never see the sun.  (9)  Before your pots can feel the fire of thorns He will sweep them away with a whirlwind, the green and the burning alike.  (10)  The righteous will rejoice when he sees the vengeance; He will wash his feet in the blood of the wicked.  (11)  And men will say, “Surely there is a reward for the righteous; Surely there is a God who judges on earth!”

Cast Your Burden on the Lord
Psa 55:1-23  For the choir director; on stringed instruments. A Maskil of David. Give ear to my prayer, O God; And do not hide Yourself from my supplication.  (2)  Give heed to me and answer me; I am restless in my complaint and am surely distracted,  (3)  Because of the voice of the enemy, Because of the pressure of the wicked; For they bring down trouble upon me And in anger they bear a grudge against me.  (4)  My heart is in anguish within me, And the terrors of death have fallen upon me.  (5)  Fear and trembling come upon me, And horror has overwhelmed me.  (6)  I said, “Oh, that I had wings like a dove! I would fly away and be at rest.  (7)  “Behold, I would wander far away, I would lodge in the wilderness. Selah.  (8)  “I would hasten to my place of refuge From the stormy wind and tempest.”  (9)  Confuse, O Lord, divide their tongues, For I have seen violence and strife in the city.  (10)  Day and night they go around her upon her walls, And iniquity and mischief are in her midst.  (11)  Destruction is in her midst; Oppression and deceit do not depart from her streets.  (12)  For it is not an enemy who reproaches me, Then I could bear it; Nor is it one who hates me who has exalted himself against me, Then I could hide myself from him.  (13)  But it is you, a man my equal, My companion and my familiar friend;  (14)  We who had sweet fellowship together Walked in the house of God in the throng.  (15)  Let death come deceitfully upon them; Let them go down alive to Sheol, For evil is in their dwelling, in their midst.  (16)  As for me, I shall call upon God, And the LORD will save me.  (17)  Evening and morning and at noon, I will complain and murmur, And He will hear my voice.  (18)  He will redeem my soul in peace from the battle which is against me, For they are many who strive with me.  (19)  God will hear and answer them—Even the one who sits enthroned from of old—Selah. With whom there is no change, And who do not fear God.  (20)  He has put forth his hands against those who were at peace with him; He has violated his covenant.  (21)  His speech was smoother than butter, But his heart was war; His words were softer than oil, Yet they were drawn swords.  (22)  Cast your burden upon the LORD and He will sustain you; He will never allow the righteous to be shaken.  (23)  But You, O God, will bring them down to the pit of destruction; Men of bloodshed and deceit will not live out half their days. But I will trust in You.

In God I Trust
Psa 56:1-13  For the choir director; according to Jonath elem rehokim. A Mikhtam of David, when the Philistines seized him in Gath. Be gracious to me, O God, for man has trampled upon me; Fighting all day long he oppresses me.  (2)  My foes have trampled upon me all day long, For they are many who fight proudly against me.  (3)  When I am afraid, I will put my trust in You.  (4)  In God, whose word I praise, In God I have put my trust; I shall not be afraid. What can mere man do to me?  (5)  All day long they distort my words; All their thoughts are against me for evil.  (6)  They attack, they lurk, They watch my steps, As they have waited to take my life.  (7)  Because of wickedness, cast them forth, In anger put down the peoples, O God!  (8)  You have taken account of my wanderings; Put my tears in Your bottle. Are they not in Your book?  (9)  Then my enemies will turn back in the day when I call; This I know, that God is for me.  (10)  In God, whose word I praise, In the LORD, whose word I praise,  (11)  In God I have put my trust, I shall not be afraid. What can man do to me?  (12)  Your vows are binding upon me, O God; I will render thank offerings to You.  (13)  For You have delivered my soul from death, Indeed my feet from stumbling, So that I may walk before God In the light of the living.

There Is None Who Does Good
Psa 53:1-6  For the choir director; according to Mahalath. A Maskil of David. The fool has said in his heart, “There is no God,” They are corrupt, and have committed abominable injustice; There is no one who does good.  (2)  God has looked down from heaven upon the sons of men To see if there is anyone who understands, Who seeks after God.  (3)  Every one of them has turned aside; together they have become corrupt; There is no one who does good, not even one.  (4)  Have the workers of wickedness no knowledge, Who eat up My people as though they ate bread And have not called upon God?  (5)  There they were in great fear where no fear had been; For God scattered the bones of him who encamped against you; You put them to shame, because God had rejected them.  (6)  Oh, that the salvation of Israel would come out of Zion! When God restores His captive people, Let Jacob rejoice, let Israel be glad.

The Lord Upholds My Life
Psa 54:1-7  For the choir director; on stringed instruments. A Maskil of David, when the Ziphites came and said to Saul, “Is not David hiding himself among us?” Save me, O God, by Your name, And vindicate me by Your power.  (2)  Hear my prayer, O God; Give ear to the words of my mouth.  (3)  For strangers have risen against me And violent men have sought my life; They have not set God before them. Selah.  (4)  Behold, God is my helper; The Lord is the sustainer of my soul.  (5)  He will recompense the evil to my foes; Destroy them in Your faithfulness.  (6)  Willingly I will sacrifice to You; I will give thanks to Your name, O LORD, for it is good.  (7)  For He has delivered me from all trouble, And my eye has looked with satisfaction upon my enemies.

20 November 2017 Verse of the Day

Such were some of you; but you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God.  (1 Corinthians 6:11 NASB)

Create in Me a Clean Heart, O God
Psa 51:1-19  For the choir director. A Psalm of David, when Nathan the prophet came to him, after he had gone in to Bathsheba. Be gracious to me, O God, according to Your lovingkindness; According to the greatness of Your compassion blot out my transgressions.  (2)  Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity And cleanse me from my sin.  (3)  For I know my transgressions, And my sin is ever before me.  (4)  Against You, You only, I have sinned And done what is evil in Your sight, So that You are justified when You speak And blameless when You judge.  (5)  Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, And in sin my mother conceived me.  (6)  Behold, You desire truth in the innermost being, And in the hidden part You will make me know wisdom.  (7)  Purify me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; Wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.  (8)  Make me to hear joy and gladness, Let the bones which You have broken rejoice.  (9)  Hide Your face from my sins And blot out all my iniquities.  (10)  Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me.  (11)  Do not cast me away from Your presence And do not take Your Holy Spirit from me.  (12)  Restore to me the joy of Your salvation And sustain me with a willing spirit.  (13)  Then I will teach transgressors Your ways, And sinners will be converted to You.  (14)  Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, the God of my salvation; Then my tongue will joyfully sing of Your righteousness.  (15)  O Lord, open my lips, That my mouth may declare Your praise.  (16)  For You do not delight in sacrifice, otherwise I would give it; You are not pleased with burnt offering.  (17)  The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; A broken and a contrite heart, O God, You will not despise.  (18)  By Your favor do good to Zion; Build the walls of Jerusalem.  (19)  Then You will delight in righteous sacrifices, In burnt offering and whole burnt offering; Then young bulls will be offered on Your altar.

The Steadfast Love of God Endures
Psa 52:1-9  For the choir director. A Maskil of David, when Doeg the Edomite came and told Saul and said to him, “David has come to the house of Ahimelech.” Why do you boast in evil, O mighty man? The lovingkindness of God endures all day long.  (2)  Your tongue devises destruction, Like a sharp razor, O worker of deceit.  (3)  You love evil more than good, Falsehood more than speaking what is right. Selah.  (4)  You love all words that devour, O deceitful tongue.  (5)  But God will break you down forever; He will snatch you up and tear you away from your tent, And uproot you from the land of the living. Selah.  (6)  The righteous will see and fear, And will laugh at him, saying,  (7)  “Behold, the man who would not make God his refuge, But trusted in the abundance of his riches And was strong in his evil desire.”  (8)  But as for me, I am like a green olive tree in the house of God; I trust in the lovingkindness of God forever and ever.  (9)  I will give You thanks forever, because You have done it, And I will wait on Your name, for it is

good, in the presence of Your godly ones.
